You have kept the counties safe all year. On 13 December, the only thing you need to police is the dance floor.

Step out of the cold and into Marrakesh. Minarets and giant archways rise over a starlit souk. Hot and cold canapés appear as you wander. Four bars. A cocktail bar bejewelled in candlelight. Mixologists building colour to order. Then the lights drop, dinner is served, and Europe’s leading cirque acts take the air above your table.

When dessert is done the finale detonates — light, sound, swinging trapeze — and the night is handed to you: disco, dodgems, fun casino, midnight breakfast, and a taxi rank on the door.

Swinging Double Trapeze

The finale: grace, precision and a swinging double trapeze before the DJ takes the floor.

Getting to the NEC

Sat nav: B40 1NT. Once on site, follow signs for Xmas Party World. Parking is free. Cars may be left overnight at the owner’s risk.

By car

M1, M6, M6 Toll, M40 and M42 all feed the campus. From force HQ at Hindlip, Worcestershire, it is typically around 45 minutes via M5 J6 and the M42 — longer from Hereford and Shrewsbury, still an easy Sunday run.

  • Worcester / Hindlip ~45 min
  • Kidderminster ~45 min
  • Telford ~50 min
  • Hereford ~1 hr 15
  • Shrewsbury ~1 hr 15

By train

Birmingham International sits beside the NEC, linked by a covered walkway — no weather, no drama. Change at Birmingham New Street from Worcester, Hereford and much of Shropshire, or look for Transport for Wales services toward International from the north of the force area.

Last trains on a Sunday night are unforgiving. If you are on rails, stay over or pre-book a taxi for 01:00.

Taxi & air

T.O.A Taxis drop and collect outside Hall 1: 0121 427 8888. Birmingham Airport is next door if anyone is flying in.

Designated drivers, split a hotel, or leave the car in the free party car park. Do not chance it. Look after each other on the way home.

Guest briefing

Night-of intel

No jeans No trainers 18+ Cashless

Dress code

Glad rags. Jewel tones and gold will look at home in Marrakesh — but this is smart party wear, not costume.

No jeans (including black jeans), trainers, t-shirts or sportswear. Security will refuse entry and there is no refund. Challenge 25 is in force: bring ID.

Tickets

E-tickets on your phone are fine — keep the barcode bright. No ticket, long delay at the door. If your organiser is collecting drinks wristbands or fairground tokens, that happens at the signposted collection point as you scan in.

All Inclusive

This Sunday is listed as All Inclusive: house wine, beer, cider, alcopops and soft drinks all night. Not included: spirits, cocktails, prosecco, champagne, rides and casino. Responsible drinking policy — typically two drinks at a time. 18+ on All Inclusive nights.

Cashless

No cash tills. Card or phone for anything extra. You cannot bring your own drinks in, and you cannot take alcohol out.

Fairground & casino

Advance package: 3 tokens for £10. On the night: £4 a token. Rides and fun casino are one token a go; 360 camera is £10. Fun casino converts £4 into £10 of fun money — profits to charity, prizes for the top three stacks.

Photos on the night

Professional photographer on the floor. Prints are sold on the night only (£15, or 3 for £40) — they are not available afterwards, so buy them before carriages.

The night after

Your night. Your memories.

A room full of West Mercia faces is not a public gallery. The photos live behind a guest password — shared with the party, never printed on this page.

After the night, the organiser drops the shots into a folder that the web server will not list. Guests unlock them here. No uniforms in a mess, no tagging people who have not agreed, no dumping the album on Facebook.

Venue prints from the NEC photographer are still a separate thing: buy those on the night or they are gone.
